My new double album “Larsen Symphonique + Organ Works” will be out next Friday. I wanted to write an album specifically about being transgender woman; it’s length at 2.5 hours (my longest work to date) embodies both the process of hormone replacement therapy and Radigue’s philosophy of experiencing time in a vacuum; the pieces are long and only come to an end at their natural ending point, mimicking a human’s life cycle and the life-long process of transitioning as never TRULY ending. The album is an expiration of microtonal electronic, musique concrete, and contemporary classical as interpreted through feedback, organs, and electroacoustic phenomena. Symbolically, it represents the sublime euphoria to the moments of pain and impostor syndrome that comes with dysphoria in the modern age. Furthermore, all of the tracks in this release were created in the five months of quarantine that have passed so far, thus further exemplifying Radigue’s idea of time-stretch; every moment spent in isolation is slowed down to it’s minute particles (beat, pulse, rhythm, and harmonics) to represent the passage of moments as they relate to gender expression. As always, 100% of the support for this endeavor will go to support mutual aid efforts worldwide, including the Red Cross efforts in Beirut. Enjoy.
